Should you pass by my grave,
Pray and ask for blessing and grace
For this will be the place of pilgrimage
Far the mystical libertines.
As far as it is known,in 1477 AD,namely sixty four years after Hafez demise a dome was set up over Hafez’s grave in front of it there would be a large pool whose water used to come from Rokni water sources.Karim Khan Zand had a resplendent edifice constructed beside the tomb of Hafez which embraced a hall with four high monolithic pillars and a large garden in its front.
A marble stone was placed on Hafez’s grave which still existing.Meanwhile there is a stanza of Hafez poetry.The opening verses of those two lyric poems are:
Where do thy love’s glad message,
Echo for my rapt soul to rise?
This sacred bird from the worldly matches,
Yearns to its goal to rise,
Obey the Shah of the whole world and thus,
Heart!a Shah be thou.
For evermore by acting thus,
In favor with Allah be thou.
During the last 160 years various restorations and repairs have been carried out by benevolent people.Utilizing patterns and elements from the Zand era the French architect Andre Godard designed the existing building.The plan was put into operation by efforts expended by the late Ali Asghar Hekmat in 1936.
